Polly Billington MP Labour MP for East Thanet

Following scenes of violent disorder and antisocial behaviour in Broadstairs, Polly has visited businesses in Broadstairs town centre to speak directly with shop workers and bar staff, many of whom were left frightened and shaken by the incidents. Polly heard first-hand how the disruption affected both staff and customers, with some describing feeling genuinely terrified.
In response, she has contacted Kent Police to request urgent answers about how the situation was allowed to escalate and why existing dispersal orders were not effectively enforced. She has called for a tougher, more coordinated approach to tackling public disorder across Thanet.
Polly is now working with Kent Police, British Transport Police, and the local council to put together a more robust plan to prevent further incidents. She is also organising a community engagement session in the coming weeks to bring together residents, local businesses, and police to find constructive solutions.
She was joined on her visit by Simon from Independent Broadstairs and Cllr Kristian Bright, and thanked them for their support in standing up for local businesses and community safety.
Polly continues to encourage local residents to share their views and concerns by contacting her office directly, which you can do by clicking here.
