Polly has signed an open letter, along with nearly 60 MPs, calling on the government to immediately recognise the State of Palestine. The letter, addressed to Foreign Secretary David Lammy, strongly objects to the Israeli Defence Minister’s plan to forcefully relocate Palestinians from Gaza to a camp on the ruins of Rafah – described by signatories as tantamount to ethnic cleansing and a grave violation of international human rights.

In the letter, Labour MPs  urge the UK to take five urgent actions: call for an immediate ceasefire, block trade from Israeli settlements, sanction extremist Israeli ministers, expedite humanitarian aid, and move forward with unilateral recognition of Palestinian statehood. By recognising Palestine now, they argue, the UK would reaffirm its commitment to a genuinely viable two-state solution and send a clear message against the continuing erosion of Palestinian rights and territory.
