Polly has backed Labour’s new law to bring our railways back under public control and deliver for passengers, including the rail fare freeze recently announced in the budget.
Speaking on BBC Politics Live she said:
“This happens in other parts of the world. They have publicly owned companies that are properly accountable and make investment in their railways, and particularly in the outcomes and services for people. There is investment going in because we’re now prioritising the outcomes for customers and for the economy, rather than for the profits of companies. And that is really important.
“That’s why we’ve frozen those train fares, which I think is important, particularly for places like mine in East Thanet where people commute.”
