Polly has hosted a visit by the Minister of State for School Standards, Georgia Gould MP, to Ramsgate Arts Primary School (RAPS), highlighting the school’s innovative arts-led curriculum and inclusive education model. Polly organised the visit to showcase how creative learning and strong SEND provision can improve educational outcomes for children in her constituency.

During the visit, Polly and the Minister toured classrooms, observed lessons in dance, drama, music and art, and spoke with pupils, teachers, and school leaders. Particular focus was placed on the school’s nurture unit, which supports children who struggle in conventional classroom environments, helping them re-engage with learning and develop confidence and wellbeing.

As the government undertakes reforms of the national curriculum, Polly wanted to show the Minister how Ramsgate Arts Primary is a powerful example of how arts education and targeted support can be embedded into mainstream schooling.

Polly said:

“I was proud to show schools minister Georgia Gould around Ramsgate Arts Primary as I wanted her to see some of the transformative impacts of a strong arts offer for the educational achievement and wellbeing of children.

“From the brilliant art in the foyer to the dance and drama classes and the nurture provision that supports children who can struggle with a mainstream classroom all day, Georgia was able to see the positive outcomes for the children.

“She is working on reintroducing arts into the curriculum after years of neglect. I know she will be taking important lessons from her visit to Ramsgate to improve arts education across the country.”
