Polly has joined more than 300 people at a vibrant community celebration of the Hindu festival of Holi in Ramsgate, marking the festival of colour, joy, and renewal.

The event, hosted by the local Hindu community at Royal Harbour Academy, brought together families from across Thanet for an afternoon of celebration, including traditional food, music, dancing, and the throwing of powdered paint – which symbolises the colourful arrival of spring.

During the visit, Polly met with members of the local Hindu community and spoke with attendees about the significance of Holi — a festival which also celebrates the triumph of good over evil and the importance of togetherness.

Speaking after the event, Polly said:

“It was a real privilege to join the Hindu community in Ramsgate to celebrate Holi. The energy, warmth and sense of community were inspiring, and it was wonderful to see so many people come together for such a vibrant and joyful festival.

“Events like this are a powerful reminder of the values we all share — renewal, hope and togetherness — and they showcase the very best of Thanet.”

Polly praised the organisers for putting on such a successful event and highlighted the importance of celebrating the diversity that makes Thanet such a vibrant place to live.
